One of the most common statements I hear from people entrapped in porn use is, “I don’t think I’m strong enough to defeat this for the rest of my life.” I can empathize deeply with that paralyzing discouragement. For many of us, the classic quicksand analogy is especially apt when it comes to porn – we had no idea how enmeshed we were in its embrace, and then when we try to break free the resistance is terrifying.
You are not alone. And there is nothing extra dirty or shameful about your mistakes that make your story any less worthy of redemption than mine. Sexual integrity is not about our spotless track record or having all the answers; it’s about making the best next decision. Our past and the poor decisions we made are frozen in time, but they don’t have to dictate our future. My friend, you are made for MORE than dependance on a counterfeit sexual idol. The most insidious aspect of porn is that it robs us of experiencing true freedom. You are created in the image of the One True God. He knows everything you’ve ever done, and His love for you has never wavered.
The conversations on this page are the answer to a question Chelsea once asked me: “What would you have needed years ago when you were breaking free from porn use?” Our mission is to equip you with resources, community, and hope for the journey ahead. When taken as a whole, addiction can feel insurmountable. But God is in the resurrection business. You have a brain and a spirit that can heal in this life and the next. I pray that you’ll join us and take a step for yourself, for your family, and for your future. Please reach out if I can be of any help along the way.
You are loved,
Layton
